Dear Sponsors,
Blessings in Jesus!
A very warm welcome to all our new sponsors, who have recently started sponsoring one of our children or are providing financial support for our orphan center! We thank God for all our sponsors support through finance and prayers! Thank you for the important role you have in Sekela and our children’s lives and the impact your support is having on them! We continue to pray for you on a regular basis.
Thank you for those who have sent your photos! If any other sponsors would like us to have a photo of you, please you are welcome to send to me through our Facebook page or my email address:

Life continues to be busy at the center! Kelvin and Sikujua (left) are delighted to have started pre-form five and were extremely thankful for the sponsor who gave funds specifically to purchase educational resources!
Daima (right) had an option to also study form five this year but had to re-sit form four exams from last year. Instead she opted to undertake a three month basic hotel management course, which she is enjoying.
Christopher (left) completed a Diploma in General Agriculture late last year. He has been trying to find work and last month he found a job building green houses and planting in them. We are hoping when we eventually purchase a plot of land, to employ Christopher, to develop and oversee the agriculture program we intend having. Our intention is to be self-sustaining and also to sell produce.
Elesia and Elina (right) are enjoying their sewing course and are thankful for the opportunity to sew costumes for our children, for our upcoming play based on the book of Ruth.
Since the beginning of the year we have been reading the book of Ruth nearly every week. Our intention is that our children will have a greater understanding of why our orphan center is called Naomi Ruth Bread of Life Orphan Centers, to understand that Jesus is our kinsman-redeemer and other spiritual lessons found in the book of Ruth. Our children are excited to play out the book of Ruth and last week they started practicing their parts. The play will be performed at next month’s birthday party for Kelvin, who will be playing the part of Boaz.
Last month we celebrated the lives of Nelsoni (5), Yusufu (7), Sarafina (17)and Skola (10)!
The caregivers of our children are always invited to come and celebrate with us, the birthdays of the children they are caring for. Nelsoni, Yusufu, Sarafina and Skola were delighted with the new pair of shoes they had chosen. As per our tradition, our other children shared the gift of Scripture with the children celebrating their birthdays.
Our children love drawing and lately have been giving several opportunities to draw! In preparation of us celebrating Passover last month and before reading the Passover story as outlined in Exodus chapter 12, our children drew pictures of different items contained within the story. It was a new concept to them, that Jesus is our Passover Lamb! We concluded with the Lord’s Supper, remembering His death and resurrection and His imminent return!
From the book of Leviticus chapter 23 our children were taught, the Lord’s feasts and how God wants a personal relationship with us through Jesus. Through the Sabbath, God’s feasts and in our everyday lives we can spend time with him. They were taught about the feasts that Jesus has fulfilled and the ones that are yet to be fulfilled by Him.
This last weekend we read through the book of Ruth and after each chapter, our children were asked specific questions relating to each chapter. They engaged with the book of Ruth very well and were quickly ready to reach the blackboard to write the answers on the blackboard. We prayed that the Holy Spirit would give us understanding of the book and how we could apply the book to our lives. A new concept to them is that Jesus is our kinsman-redeemer!
Thank you so much for your support through prayers and sponsorship! Please do not under-estimate that impact your support is having in the lives of Sekela, our children, their families, our neighbourhood and the wider Tanzania community!
We thank God for you and would love to meet you! Please prayerfully consider coming to Tanzania and visiting us!
With sincerest thanks and blessings,
Maara Heather
